I just dropped off couple of friends at the Knock Airport and I am shocked to see that they charge a development fee.
In the last 5 years I have been traveling a lot but only have seen a departure fee charged in Belgrade.
It’s great that the there is an airport near by and all but it is awfully rude I think to charge 10 Euros extra just to use the airport. Knock Airport handled from 01.01. – 30.05. 225.000 passengers – that’s an estimated half a million a year and multiply this times 10 Euros and you are at 5 Million Euro in a year.
And now take a look at the airport – it is nasty. The Cafeteria is a nightmare the newsagent is just plain embarrassing and I must say that the overall impression is just plain run down.
It would be different if you could actually see that the money is being used to enhance the airport. But this way you just feel you are getting ripped off.
